Empowering Children Through Play.
Holistic, evidence based Occupational Therapy targeting goals specific to you, facilitated through play.
Our Approach
At Play Is The Way, we are dedicated to providing holistic, compassionate, and evidence-based interventions that promote well-being, build resilience, and foster meaningful connections. We take a whole-child approach, recognising that each young person is unique and influenced by a wide range of factors. By addressing the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of their lives, we aim to nurture confidence, self-awareness, and the capacity to navigate life’s challenges. Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential- not just in the present, but for life. In addition to our paediatric focus, we also offer specialised support for mothers during the postpartum period and matrescence, ensuring the wider family system is supported through this significant life transition.
Our Story
We have been providing support within the disability community for over 7 years and providing Occupational Therapy intervention for 5 years. We have experience supporting those diagnosed with genetic conditions, intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Sensory Processing Challenges, trauma and anxiety. We also offer specialised occupational therapy for mothers navigating postpartum and matrescence, supporting the physical, emotional and identity changes that arise during the transition into motherhood.
Occupational Therapy for Postpartum & Matrescence
Motherhood brings a profound shift in roles, routines and self-identity. Play Is The Way Occupational Therapy provides holistic support during this transition by supporting you:
Adjust to the identity changes of motherhood, understanding the emotional and social shifts that come with matrescence.
Rebuild functional confidence in daily tasks such as self-care, household management, parenting roles, and returning to work.
Manage the physical load of early motherhood; lifting, feeding, carrying, bending and repetitive tasks- with strategies to reduce pain, strain and fatigue.
Support emotional regulation and overwhelm, using sensory-based tools, pacing strategies and routines that restore calm and clarity.
Adapt your environment and workflows to make life smoother, safer and more sustainable during the demanding postpartum period.
Enhance bonding and co-occupation with your baby, including feeding routines, settling strategies, positioning for comfort, and responsive caregiving.
Build long-term wellbeing habits, supporting sleep, rest, movement and reconnecting with your own identity as a parent and a woman.
Our goal is to guide you through the complexity of postpartum and matrescence with evidence-informed, compassionate occupational therapy- helping you feel grounded, capable and supported as you grow into motherhood.
Our Services
Our services include providing 1:1 individualised, evidence based therapy, assessments and reports for children aged 0-18 years of age. We are a community based service, enabling us to collaborate with caregivers, educators and other therapists to maximise outcomes. We also offer telehealth services if preferred or if outside of the Adelaide region. In addition to paediatrics, we also support mothers in their postpartum journey and through matrescence, helping them rebuild confidence, manage daily demands, regulate overwhelm and establish sustainable routines as they transition into motherhood.
